Whether you have never bought a home or are in the market for your fifth home, touring a home is a crucial part of the home buying process. Things have changed – there’s no denying that, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still find the home of your dreams. Below I will walk you through some tips on how to make the most of a virtual tour when looking for a home and the steps to take once you’ve found one or two that you are interested in.
Treat the Virtual Tour Like a Real Walkthrough
Just because you can’t necessarily walk through a home in person right away doesn’t mean you should ignore the things you would be looking for if you were in the home yourself. Pay attention to things like the overall layout of the home, how bright the rooms are, where there are plugs around a room, how much storage is there – this goes for the outside of the home as well. If you are looking for something private, make sure you are looking at the exterior portion of the video and assessing what you see around the yard such as if you can see neighboring homes. If you are looking for something close to town and walkable make note of sidewalks.
Take plenty of notes and keep your wishlist in mind to ensure you are looking for the things that are most important to you. Having notes on the properties you are most interested in can also help your real estate agent better find a perfect match for you. Research the Community
If you are an out-of-state buyer you may not be familiar or be able to get familiar with the community you’re looking to buy a home in at this time. You can learn more about some of the communities in the New Hampshire Lakes Region on my website. In addition to my website, it can also be helpful to search online for the local chamber of commerce, school ratings, walkability, and crime statistics to get a better sense of what a community may be like. YouTube can also be a great resource for finding more visual walkthroughs of a community. I’m also always available to talk to you about relocating to the Lakes Region and what areas may be the best fit for you.
Connect with a Trusted Real Estate Agent
This may seem like an obvious one, but reaching out to a real estate agent, such as myself, before you get too far down the rabbit hole of virtual tours can help you better find what you’re looking for and understand what the market is like currently. You can give me a call or contact me through my website to set up a time to speak on what you’re looking for in your next home.
Things have changed, but that shouldn’t stand in the way of you finding your dream home. Let’s connect to discuss what you’re looking for in your home and how I can help you find the best match.
