Smith Cove in Gilford NHGilford is one of the towns that surround Lake Winnipesaukee. As of 2010, the population was 7,126 residents. The community is the only town in New Hampshire still named after a Revolutionary War battle, and it was predominantly an agricultural community. Today, Gilford is known as the “Recreation Center of New Hampshire” due to its proximity to the Belknap Mountain Range slopes and Lake Winnipesaukee.
